In April 2000, MAGNA STEYR and Saab signed a contract for the complete development and subsequent manufacturing of a new Saab 9-3 Convertible generation. The Swedish automobile manufacturer, rich in tradition and now part of General Motors, handed over responsibility for the entire development and volume production process to MAGNA STEYR.

Considering the fact that it concerns a premium segment convertible, this is unique for MAGNA STEYR in terms of depth and complexity. Within a development time of three years the convertible has been made fit for volume production. Start of production was in early July 2003 at MAGNA STEYR.

To account for the seasonal fluctuations in demand for convertibles, we implemented a new and even more flexible working hour model for our productions.
